School Closure

5th January 2021 - 19th February 2021

Following the Government's announcement on 30th December 2020, our school will once again be closed for most children at the beginning of the Spring Term.   This means that Monksmead School will be closed for all pupils except:

  • children of key workers
  • vulnerable pupils

Whilst we aim to remain open for these children, this is an evolving situation and staffing levels are likely to change daily.  We will inform parents by text/email if the school is unable to open.  Our overriding priority will be to maintain the health and safety of our children and school community.

All other children who do not fall into the above groups must remain at home with appropriate care.

School will be open for children who are entitled to attend from Tuesday 5th January.  For those children who are not able to attend, class teachers will provide home learning from Wednesday 6th January.   Children in Years 1 to 6 will access their learning via Microsoft Teams and parents will receive information on how to access this.    Children in Nursery and Reception will continue to use Tapestry for contact with their class teachers.  Further information can be found by clicking on the 'Remote Learning' tab or by clicking on this link: Remote Learning

Due to staffing shortages, Donny’s Breakfast and After-School Clubs are currently unable to run.

We appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal; we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.  We will provide updates to our families through email and/or text.  Please speak to the office if you require a different form of communication.
