Sport Premium

At Monksmead School we have used Sport Premium Funding 2018/19 to meet the following objectives:

  • To increase the level of physical activity for all children at Monksmead.
  • To create opportunities for as many of our children as possible to participate in sporting activities.
  • To increase the knowledge and confidence of all staff in delivering good or outstanding PE lessons.

 

We are proud of what we achieved with our Sports Premium funding. Here are some of the sporting activities we have delivered and competed in during 2018/19: football, netball, cricket, cross-country, gymnastics, swimming, indoor sports hall athletics, outdoor athletics.

Other sporting activities this year included:

  • Continuation of ‘Fitter Future’ daily workout activity.
  • Annual Race for Life fundraising event.
  • Annual Sport’s Day.

 

 

This hard work has resulted in the following…

  • Monksmead continues to be awarded Gold status by the School Games Mark website.

 

We will strive to take the next steps in 2019/20 and we plan to use the Sports Premium Funding in the following ways…

  • Continuation of the ‘Fitter Future’ exercise programme including a morning workout regime and access for all pupils to workouts at home.
  • Continuing to develop and monitor the quality of P.E lessons. This will meet our objective in ensuring that all P.E. lessons are judged as at least ‘good’ by external monitoring.
  • To carry on developing a passion for sport and physical activity at Monksmead.
  • To become more successful when competing.
  • A further sports enrichment activity to take place in the Autumn term of 2019.

Year 6 Swimming Competency 2018 - 2019

  • 67% can swim competently and confidently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
  • 37% can use a range of strokes effectively.
  • 22% can perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations.
