Queen's Birthday Celebration 2016
Parents joined in our birthday celebrations to mark the 90th birthday of the Queen. There were many fun activities involving cakes, crowns, coins and even a coronation style street party!

World Book Day 2015
This year our focus was non - fiction. As well as the traditional parade the children were able to visit other classes and share their favourite books with each other.
Our harvest appeal this year helped support the Borehamwood Foodbank. Helen came to our Harvest assembly to talk to the children about how the Foodback helps families in Borehamwood. Pictured are the Year 6 school council representatives helping Helen deliver our Harvest and weigh out and put together bags of food. Each bag contains 3 days of ingredients which can be used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thank you everyone for all the Harvest gifts.
Primary Art Exhibition 2014
Each class were inspired by Martin and Hilary's visit to produce art work to commemorate the centenary of WW1. This was displayed in the exhibition and KS2 classes enjoyed visiting the library to see their work displayed.
Words in the Wood 2014
This year the schools in Borehamwood and surrounding area chose 'The Rabbit Problem' as the inspiration for the Words in the Wood project. We used the story ,written by Emily Gravett ,to inspire a range of writing which we proudly displayed in the exhibition. Classes were able to visit the exhibition and see their work on display.
World Book Day 2014
The school was filled with famous book characters on Thursday. Every class had the chance to take part in the annual World Book Day parade and show their fantastic costumes. The children also raised £206 to buy books for the library of our friends in Treak. Thank you everyone for all your support.
Christmas Dinner 2013
The whole school enjoyed a sit down Christmas Dinner, Fun was had by all. Mrs Elsley and Miss Alderton help served dinner with Mrs Hyslop delicious cooking. All the staff sat down and joined the festivities.
Elstree and Borehamwood Parade
The rain didn't stop the fun of the Parade on Sat 15th June. We were very proud to be named as the winning float - well done to you all.
Borehamwood Literacy Project
Schools from Borehamwood and the surrounding area met at Hertswood Academy to showcase work inspired by 'The Incredible Book Eating Boy'. Pupils from Monksmead took part in the project and also photographed their favourite parts of the exhibition.
Race for life 2015
Everyone joined together to help support our Race for life. After our runners had been energized with a family picnic ,a warm up was carried out by Hertsmere Leisure. Year 6 then led all the classes and parents running around the field in their Race for Life. The children also bought raffle tickets to choose who received the pink gunge at the end, well done to Mr Remnant for collecting the most tickets! Our event raised an amazing £1194 to help beat Cancer. Fantastic day
A Christmas Truce
Martin Impey returned to our school with the sequel to Where the Poppies now grow. He spent time in all classes working with the children and helped inspire our writers to create work for this years 'Words in the Wood' exhibition
Where the Poppies now grow
Author Hilary Robinson and illustrator Martin Impey visited our school yesterday to showcase their new book, Where The Poppies Now Grow. As part of our ‘Time to Remember’ week, and to mark the 100 year anniversary since the outbreak of WW1,the pair gave a talk in assembly about their connection to the war – as both lost great uncles in the Battle of the Somme – and read from the book. Children were also involved in workshops, where they were shown how to create their own illustrations and also a number of artefacts from the war. It was a very special visit and everyone involved, including Martin and Hilary, had an amazing day.
Sport Relief Bake Off 2014
To raise money for Sport Relief the children had to decorate a biscuit in a sporting theme. Well done to all the children and their families who produced such amazing results and raised £114.50 in the process. Pictured are some of the entries to the display. The children enjoyed looking at all the different designs but the best bit was eating them at the end!
Primary Art Exhibition
Each class worked on an art project based around 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. The work was displayed at the Art Exhibition held at St Teresa's Parish Centre.
Staff v Year 6 Netball Match July 2013
The Year 6 challenged the Staff to an end of Year match. Both sides played well but the final score was 11-10 to the Year 6.
The teachers planned thier revenge in the Year 6 football penalty shootout challenge later in the week but unfortunately were again beaten by 1. Final result 2-1 to the Year 6s. Well played everyone and congratulations to the 2 amazing goalies, Joel and Mr Remnant.
Drumming Workshop with Jeff Rich
The whole school had fun at the Drumming Workshop with Status Quo legend, Jeff Rich. Jeff gave a talk about the history of drumming from the first wooden drum, made from a hollowed out tree trunk, to the modern day drum kits we use today. The workshop ended with everyone in the school playing a percusssion instrument along with Jeff.
