Our admissions into Squirrels Pre-Nursery are dealt with by the school. There are two settings within the Pre-Nursery.
Acorns provides provision for 24 two year olds and runs two sessions, 8.30-11.30 and 12.30-3.30, Monday to Friday, term time only.
Little Oaks provides provision for 24 three year olds. Your child is entitled to access up to 15 hours of nursery education free, the term after their third birthday. There is also the opportunity to pay for sessions where available. Fee paying sessions are charged at a nominal rate to allow access of provision to all children.
If you are interested in registering your child for a pre-nursery place in either our Acorns or Little Oaks room please contact:
Nursery and Reception
Our admissions into Nursery and Reception are dealt with by the local authority, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). Parents should expect to receive a booklet sent to their home address prior to children entering Nursery or Reception. Hertfordshire County Council produces an admissions prospectus each year, which gives information about how parents can apply for a place in the school of their choice. Expressing a preference does not, in itself, guarantee a place at this school. Parents are encouraged to apply on-line; all is explained in the information sent out to parents. HCC will then notify parents about the school place as soon as all the applications have been considered.
To apply on line go to:www.hertsdirect.org/admissions.
Parents are very welcome to view the school prior to application by making an appointment via the school office.
Children are admitted to our Nursery during the school year in which they have their fourth birthday. Currently the Nursery admits children at two points in each school year. Children with birthdays from 1 September to 28 February are admitted in September and children with birthdays between 1 March and 31 August are admitted in January.
The 30 Reception places available each school year are offered in accordance with Hertfordshire County Council admissions criteria for primary schools, details of which can be obtained from the school office. All the children joining our Reception class start on the first day of the Autumn Term.
What if I am not successful in the Admission process?
If you are not successful in your Admission application we encourage all parents to register on the ' Continuing Interest' list via the Admissions website or by calling 0300 123 4043. If there are any In-year vacancies the spaces will be allocated from the children on the list following the same admission criteria using in the initial applications.
